About
Tolatam is built by Timur Bondarenko, a software specialist who moved from Kyrgyzstan to Montevideo, Uruguay in 2025. The site was born from the personal experience of relocating and adapting to a new country.
How it started
Moving to Uruguay meant spending months gathering information from dozens of scattered sources — official government portals, expat forums, Telegram groups, and costly consultations with lawyers. Most available resources were outdated or written by people who had never lived in the country. Tolatam was created to fix that: a single resource built on real experience.
My mission
I want Tolatam to be the resource I wished had existed when I was moving — accurate, up to date, and written in plain language. The guides cover visas and residency, banking, taxes, housing, healthcare, and the real cost of living across the main expat destinations in Latin America.
Experience and expertise
In 2025 I personally navigated the Uruguayan residency process, opened local bank accounts, found and rented an apartment in Montevideo, and built working relationships with local lawyers and advisors. Everything published on Tolatam is based on real experience or verified against official sources.
Why trust Tolatam
I cite official government sources, link to primary documents, and try to keep guides up to date as laws and procedures change. When information depends on individual circumstances — tax residency, visa eligibility, company structure — I say so clearly. I am not a lawyer or accountant; for decisions that matter, I recommend consulting a licensed professional in the relevant country.
A note on accuracy
The information on this site is based on personal experience and public sources. I do my best to keep guides current, but laws and procedures change — errors are possible. If you spot a mistake or can add useful information from your own experience, please get in touch — it helps make this resource better for everyone.
